A typical day in the life of someone with a career in
heating or refrigeration involves installing, maintaining,
and repairing heating, air-conditioning, or refrigeration
systems, either in private homes, public buildings, or
businesses. Installing heating, cooling, and refrigeration
equipment can be complex, and a typical day involves following
detailed blueprints and other specifications to integrate
heating and cooling systems with a number of building
systems, from electrical to gas and piping. During most
days, heating and refrigeration technicians will be on
site, installing and maintaining systems. Other days,
depending on their status as independent contractors or
employees of a larger company, they may spend time developing
business prospects.
